February Free Pattern: Easy Crochet Heart

This heart is made with basic stitches only and does not require a crochet chart.

About This Pattern

This pattern is designed to be enjoyed slowly, one stitch at a time.
Materials
- Yarn: Any smooth yarn you like (DK or worsted works well)
- Crochet hook: Size appropriate for your yarn
- Stitch marker
- Fiberfill for stuffing
- Yarn needle
Stitches Used
- sc – single crochet
- inc – increase (2 single crochets in the same stitch)
- dec – decrease (single crochet 2 stitches together)
Work in continuous rounds.
Use a stitch marker to mark the beginning of each round.
Crochet Heart Pattern (Written Instructions)
1. Make the first top piece
Round 1 Make a magic ring. Chain 1, work 6 single crochets into the ring. (6 sts)
Round 2 Increase in every stitch around. (12 sts)
Round 3 Single crochet in each stitch around. (12 sts)
Round 4 Single crochet in each stitch around. (12 sts)
Fasten off and cut the yarn.
2. Make the second top piece
Repeat Rounds 1–4 in the same way.
Do not cut the yarn after Round 4.
3. Join the pieces and shape the heart
With the yarn still attached, join the second piece to the first piece with a single crochet.
Round 5
Single crochet evenly around both pieces. (24 sts)
Round 6
5 sc, dec, 10 sc, dec, 5 sc (22 sts)
Round 7
5 sc, dec, 9 sc, dec, 4 sc (20 sts)
Round 8
4 sc, dec, 8 sc, dec, 4 sc (18 sts)
Round 9
4 sc, dec, 7 sc, dec, 3 sc (16 sts)
Round 10
1 sc, dec ×3, 2 sc, dec ×3, 1 sc (10 sts)
4. Finish
Lightly stuff the heart with fiberfill.
Round 11
Dec ×5 (5 sts)
Fasten off, close the opening, and weave in all ends.
