June Free Pattern: Crochet Mini Pouch

June arrives with longer days, warm afternoons, and a feeling that invites us to make something useful with our hands.
This month's free pattern is a Crochet Mini Drawstring Pouch.
It is a simple project worked in the round, creating a small pouch that can hold stitch markers, notions, candies, coins, or little treasures collected throughout the day.
While this version is designed as a miniature pouch, the construction is wonderfully versatile. Once you understand the basic shape, you can easily adapt it to create pouches in many different sizes.

Before You Begin
This pouch is worked continuously around a foundation chain to create an oval shape.
The first round forms the base of the pouch. After that, each round is worked evenly without increases, allowing the sides to grow upward naturally.
Once the body is complete, two drawstrings are woven through the upper round to create the gathered opening.
Instructions
Round 1
Chain 12.
Chain 3 to begin. This turning chain counts as your first double crochet.
Work 1 double crochet into the same stitch as the turning chain.
Continue working 1 double crochet into each chain across.
When you reach the final chain, work 2 double crochets into the same chain.
Continue on the opposite side of the foundation chain, working 1 double crochet into each stitch.
You should have a total of 26 stitches.
Join with a slip stitch to the third chain of the beginning chain-3.
Round 2
Chain 3.
Work 1 double crochet into each stitch around.
You should still have 26 stitches.
Join with a slip stitch to the third chain of the beginning chain-3.
Rounds 3–8
Repeat Round 2.
Each round should maintain 26 stitches.
After completing Round 8, join with a slip stitch to the third chain of the beginning chain-3.
Fasten off if changing colors.
Border
Join a new color if desired.
Work one round of single crochet evenly around the top edge of the pouch.
Join and fasten off.
Drawstrings
Create a chain of 40 stitches.
Fasten off.
Repeat once more to make a second cord.
Weave the first cord through Round 7, skipping every other two stitches as you work around the pouch.
Insert the second cord from the opposite direction.
Pull both cords gently to gather the opening.
Finishing
Weave in all yarn ends securely.
Shape the pouch with your hands and adjust the drawstrings so they slide smoothly.
Your Crochet Mini Drawstring Pouch is now complete.

Tips
If you would like a larger pouch, simply begin with a longer foundation chain and continue working the same construction.
For a taller pouch, add additional rounds before creating the drawstring opening.
Experiment with color changes, stripes, or leftover yarn to create unique versions.
Because the shape is simple, this pattern is a wonderful foundation for future pouch designs.
Pattern Note
One of our favorite things about this project is how adaptable it is.
The same construction can be used for tiny gift pouches, notion bags, project bags, and even larger storage pouches. Learning this basic structure opens the door to many practical crochet projects.
Sometimes the most useful patterns are also the simplest.

A Little Pouch for Everyday Treasures
There is something satisfying about creating a small place for small things.
Whether it holds stitch markers, special buttons, candies, tiny keepsakes, or handmade gifts, this little pouch adds a handmade touch to everyday life.
We hope this project inspires you to experiment with different sizes and make it your own.
